Chiefs Beat Swallows To Move Fifth

Kaizer Chiefs secured a 2-1 win over Swallows in an impressive performance in their DStv Premiership clash at Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Chiefs started the brighter of the two sides, knowing a win would take them level on points with third place SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates in third but remained wary of the home side’s counter-attacking threat.

However, as the half wore on it was all Chiefs, with Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana coming closest to opening the scoring but his effort from close range was sent wide of Sanele Tshabalala’s post.

The Burundi international managed to make up for his early miss when he opened the scoring with a towering header from the in-from Kgaogelo Sekgota’s cross.

His goal sparked real confidence amongst Amakhosi squad and it was no surprise when they went into the break with a two-goal lead.

Keagan Dolly netted a sumptuous free-kick past a flailing Tshabalala to send the away supporters into overdrive.

The second half proved to be a high-octane affair filled with action as the Dube Birds chased the game and when Waseem Isaacs pulled one back in the 68th minute it sparked some end-to-end action.

Bimenyimana went on to spurn two gult-edged chances for Arthur Zwane’s side that could have put the game beyond doubt, however, they didn’t live to regreat it as the game finished 2-1 with Chiefs moving five points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
