Drama is reportedly brewing between Chidimma Adetshina and the organisers of Miss Universe Nigeria after she unfollowed the pageant on Instagram.

The reigning queen – who was also crowned Miss Universe runner-up – revealed that she will not attend the grand finale later this month. She is expected to hand over her crown to the incoming queen.

Chidimma courted controversy after the South African Department of Home Affairs confirmed that her Malawian mother had committed identity fraud when registering her birth in the country.

Both women’s passports and identity documents have been reportedly seized.

CHIDIMMA ADETSHINA AND MISS UNIVERSE NIGERIA’S RELATIONSHIP SOURS?

According to various social media users, Chidimma Adetshina has severed her ties with the organisers of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

This was reportedly after she was snubbed from an upcoming event. According to pageant insiders, Chidimma sided with contestant Nyekachi Douglas, who revealed that she was asked to withdraw over new eligibility rules.

Speaking out against the organisation, Chidimma – the reigning Miss Universe Nigeria – commented: “I STAND WITH YOU! You deserve every opportunity to compete…. TELL YOUR STORY”.

Responding to her TikTok followers, Chidimma confirmed that she would not be attending the pageant finale, which takes place on 31 August at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.

@amusestan Chidimma Adetshina @chichivanessa,  Miss Universe @missuniverse 2024’s first runner-up, has announced she will not attend the Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 finale to crown her successor, suggesting a tense relationshiop with the organization after unfollowing its official page. Chidimma was recently excluded from the organization’s ‘Global Stars’ party. Fellow beauty queen Nyekachi Douglas @nyeka_d, who was denied entry into the Miss Universe Nigeria 2025, voiced her support for Chidimma, criticizing the treatment of former titleholders. Chidimma’s absence at the finale indicates potential issues within the organization. Her silence raises questions about whether Miss Universe Nigeria organization will address this situation and reconcile with its former queens. #MissUniverse #MissUniverseNigeria #ChidimmaAdetshina #MissUniverseNigeria#MissUniverseNigeria2025 #NyekachiDouglas #MissUniverse202#victoriakjaer #MissUniverse2025 #missworld #MissMundo #missworld2019 #MissUniverso2025 #missworldnigeria #1strunnerup #MissUniverseNigeria2024 #MissUniverseAfrica #continentalqueens #africaday #nigeria #MissWorldAfrica #MissWorldAfrica2019 #MissSouthAfrica #MissSA #MissSouthAfrica2024 #Africa #AfricanQueen #BlackGirlMagic #AfricaUnity #1strunnerup #MissUniverso #MissUniverso2024 #MissUniverseThailand #HoaHauHoanVu #MissUniverseThailand #MissUniversePhilippines #MissUniverseVietnam #MissCosmoPhilippines #hoahau #มิสเวิลด์ #มงฟ้ามาเเน่ #แมส #นางงามโลก #MissUniverseLatina #MULER #certamendebelleza #certamen #reinadebelleza #reinas #reina #reinasdebelleza #bellezaconpropósito #MundoMiss #MissMonde #drama #scandal #pageanttalk #pageanttalkph #beautyqueen #pageantryph #beautypageant #pageantry #pageant #pageatnews #นางงาม #parati #viral #virale #amusestan ♬ original sound – amusestan

BACK IN SOUTH AFRICA

Meanwhile, Chidimma Adetshina revealed that she was back in South Africa, despite her identity scandal with the Department of Home Affairs.

In February, the mother-of-one also bragged about visiting Cape Town, where she moved to with her family. That same month, her mother, Anabela Runga, was arrested for contravening the Immigration Act and the Identification Act.

Chidimma Adetshina has revealed she is back in SA, amid a Home Affairs investigation into her fraudulent documents.

She was placed on house arrest, which has since been lifted. However, she has a strict curfew.

Late last year, Home Affairs stated that their investigation into Chidimma’s history revealed that her mother was not a South African citizen and was involved in identity theft and fraud when registering her birth.

By default, due to her relationship with her mother, both women were stripped of their South African IDs and passports. It is likely that Chidimma has since obtained her Nigerian identity and travel documents.
