Chicco Twala denies son had a hand in Senzo’s murder

In the ongoing Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, music producer Sello “Chicco” Twala has rejected the latest allegations against his son, Longwe.

Speaking to The Citizen on Wednesday night, Twala denied the defence’s claims that Longwe was involved in the 2014 shooting of the football star.

During Wednesday’s court session at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, advocate Thulani Mngomezulu, who represents one of the accused, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, suggested that Longwe accidentally shot himself during a fight with Meyiwa on the night of the murder.

Twala called the claim ridiculous.

“Who on Earth can shoot himself with a gun and walk normally without limping? My son is human, not Superman,” he said.

He said there were no signs of injury on Longwe that night and noted that he took Longwe and others at the scene to the hospital.

“The media and people at the hospital would have noticed if my son was injured and limping,” he said.

Twala also pointed to widely shared footage of Longwe walking without difficulty.

He said many South Africans saw footage of his son on Netflix and elsewhere, walking his ex-girlfriend Zandile Gumede-Khumalo to the car.

“So why wasn’t he limping if he shot himself?” Twala asked.

Mngomezulu suggested that Longwe might have fired the fatal shot using Twala’s 9mm Parabellum pistol.

However, Twala pointed out that ballistic experts had cleared the firearm, which didn’t match the bullets found at the crime scene.

“The lawyer needs to stop watching TikTok and social media where people claim I lost my firearm,” he said.
