Right-wing American activist Charlie Kirk has died. The 32-year-old was fatally shot on Wednesday, 10 September 2025 while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.

Officials confirmed that a suspect was arrested at the scene but later released following interrogation by law enforcement.

“Our investigation continues and we will continue to release information in the interest of transparency,” said FBI Director Kash Patel.

Charlie Kirk was a prominent American political activist, author, and media personality. He was best known as the co-founder and former executive director of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit organisation he launched in 2012 to promote conservative principles on high school and college campuses.

Kirk’s career began in his youth, and he quickly rose to become a leading figure in the conservative youth movement. He hosted The Charlie Kirk Show, a daily radio programme and podcast that gained a strong following among conservative audiences. He was also the author of several books.

A close ally of former President Donald Trump, Kirk was a vocal presence in political and cultural debates in the United States.
