CBC Starting XIs Update, Khune Runaway Leader

Itumeleng Khune is once again the run-away leader in the current voting for the Carling Black Label Cup starting XIs, while new Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana currently doesn’t make the line-up.

Carling Black Label revealed the current voting standings on Tuesday, with Chiefs players receiving the most votes from the four semi-finalists.

Khune has amassed 33,090 votes, followed by Keagan Dolly with 12,226 and Khama Billiat – who has been injured in recent weeks – with 10,251 votes.

Somewhat surprisingly, in-form Chiefs striker Bimenyimana doesn’t make the starting XI, as voted by the fans, right now.

At Orlando Pirates, new signing Kermit Erasmus leads the votes, having received 8,977 votes, while Thabiso Monyane follows with 8,510 in second position and Thembinkosi Lorch with 5,892 in third.

At Mamelodi Sundowns it doesn’t surprise that Peter Shalulile has received the most votes with 6,079 so far. He is followed by Grant Kekana with 3,935 votes and Abubeker Nasir with 2,472 votes.

AmaZulu, who had a late rush into the top four thanks to multiple campaigns, as confirmed by president Sandile Zungu, have Mbongeni Gumede at the top of the voting with 1,191 votes, followed by Gabadinho Mhango with 953 votes and Lehlohonolo Majoro with 795 votes.

The Carling Black Label cup will take place on 12 November, when Usuthu and Downs meet in the first semi-final before Pirates and Chiefs face off in a swot derby in the second.

The winners of the two ties will meet each other in the final on the same day.
