Cassper Nyovest vows weight loss comeback after body shaming backlash

Cassper Nyovest reacts to people body shaming him

Cassper Nyovest is back on a fitness mission after hurtful comments about his weight surfaced online following his performance at the Scorpion Kings with Friends Live concert on August 29.

The award-winning rapper admitted the trolling got to him but said he’s using it as motivation ahead of his highly anticipated #FillUpToyotaStadium concert in November.

“I was doing cardio all week. This time it’s a bit more fun because I’m playing tennis. Next week I’ll start weight training. The comments at the weekend were harsh. It hurt my feelings a bit but sometimes that’s what you need, a little push,” Cassper explained.

He added that while the criticism stung, it also became a turning point: “It is a projection, about how you feel about yourself. Body shaming and all of that. You don’t know what I’m going through. I’m going to turn the lemons into lemonade.”

This isn’t the first time the hitmaker has put himself through a demanding transformation before one of his stadium shows.

Back in 2022, he embarked on an intense weight loss journey before Fill Up Mmabatho Stadium in Mahikeng, which he later described as one of the hardest challenges of his life.

“I can’t explain how proud I am of myself. This was by far the hardest weight loss journey for me because I have done this three times and I now knew what it would take for me to get back in shape… It’s supposed to get easier by the day but it got harder and harder. I just kept waking up and going. Lost touch with a lot of relationships and people because I zoned into this goal and I had no time for anyone but myself.”

Despite the emotional and physical strain, Cassper said seeing the results left him in awe of his own determination.

“Looking at these pictures now I’m in awe of myself. I owe it to myself never to let myself go like that again. Big shout out to my training and nutrition team. Shout out to Fight Club for always having their doors open for me at any time I wanted to train. We four weeks out Boys! Let’s put on a show! I’m back!”
