South African rapper and entrepreneur Cassper Nyovest has sparked conversation on social media after sharing his thoughts on why he believes he often attracts criticism.
In a recent post on X, the award-winning musician suggested that some people are uncomfortable with his success story because he achieved it without completing tertiary education. This comes after a user on X asked him why some people simply don’t like him.

Cassper wrote that he is “young, black, successful” and built his career without higher education, adding that while education remains important, it is not the only path to success.

The musician’s own journey is often cited as an example. Born in Mahikeng, North West, Cassper left school before completing matric and later pursued a music career. He went on to become one of South Africa’s most commercially successful artists, building a brand that extends beyond music into business and entertainment.

As expected, the post drew mixed reactions. Some social media users agreed with his perspective, arguing that society often measures success too narrowly through academic qualifications.
Others felt his comments oversimplified the challenges many young South Africans face when trying to access opportunities without formal education.

Disagreeing with his views, one more user commented, “Don’t lie. They didn’t like you when you were coming up, so it’s not a money thing. It’s just a you thing.”
