Celebrated sports broadcaster Carol Tshabalala was feeling nostalgic as she reflected on her time reporting on the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a few legendary international soccer players.

Carol Tshabalala looks back at World Cup memories
The First Lady of Sport, who also serves as BONA‘s 2026 July/August cover star, noted in an Instagram post shared on 2 August 2026 that there was something profoundly humbling about the international tournament.
“For ninety minutes, the world watches what happens on the pitch. But behind every whistle, every anthem, every unforgettable moment, stands an extraordinary community of people who dedicate themselves to bringing the beautiful game to life.”
Carol also shared how grateful she was to be involved in her sixth FIFA World Cup, where she worked alongside FIFA and “some of the most talented professionals our industry has to offer.”
Some of the icons of the game included English coach and former captain John Terry, Bulgarian former footballer Dimitar Berbatov, French former right-back Bacary Sagna, and Swiss-Italian football manager and former player Roberto Di Matteo. Carol snapped pictures with the legends to capture the priceless moments.

All about gratitude
Continuing in her post, the media personality stated that she was fortunate to witness history unfold while standing in spaces she once felt impossible.
“Yet the greatest lesson has never been about the stadiums, the trophies or the spotlight,” she remarked, adding, “It’s been about the people—the friendships forged, the respect earned, the quiet excellence behind the scenes, and the collective pursuit of creating moments that millions will remember forever.”
As she concluded, Carol, who remained inspired and passionate, thanked everyone who had been a part of her journey, toasting to the memories created, stories still waiting to be told, and the beautiful game that continues to bring the world together.
