Carling Cup Top Four Takes Shape

The Carling Cup leaderboard is moving rapidly and showing early signs of who will be competing in the inaugural competition in November.

From the get-go Kaizer Chiefs have been well ahead, with the first statistics showing they had around 85,000 votes about eight days ago, which has more than doubled to 179778 in the latest rankings.

Orlando Pirates are in second place with 127625, Mamelodi Sundowns in third with close to 60,000 while Swallows who were ranked eighth have made the most of their social media promotion, drives and at times, banter – which several other clubs have since join in on.

The Dube Birds were eighth with a paltry 3458 votes but have now moved up four spaces to occupy the final semi-final spot which would see them pitted against Amakhosi, should the table remain as in when the voting closes.

Amazulu are next in line but trail the Soweto-based outfit by around just under 11,000 votes at present – which can be viewed here upon casting your vote or dialling *120*660# and following the prompts to support your favoured team.

The new four-team Carling Cup will be played on 12 November at FNB Stadium where gates are set to open at 8am for a full day of action at the Calabash.
