Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso has admitted he would be open to joining Orlando Pirates, should an offer arise.

Cardoso, 33, is one of the nine players Chiefs released as they attempt revamp and refreshen their squad under new head coach Arthur Zwane and Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Junior.

The former Free State Stars defender, who is currently a free agent and looking for a new club, was speaking to Robert Marawa on Marawa Sports Worldwide.

“Yeah, of course. I mean football is a business now,” he said.

“Also, it would also give me another opportunity to be in the Soweto Derby. It’s the biggest game in the country, it’s one of the biggest derbies around the world.

“And if they acquire my services I’ll definitely be open to it. I have seen Brilliant Khuzwayo, he went from Chiefs [to Pirates]. There’s been many players [moving between the Soweto giants].

“I’ll definitely consider it, if the opportunity comes knocking on the door I won’t turn it down.”

Cardoso spent seven years at Naturena, making 202 appearances for the club. However, despite reaching multiple cup finals, including the 2021 CAF Champions League final, the defender never lifted a trophy with Chiefs.
