  • Gauteng leader Solly Msimanga has entered the race for federal chairperson amidst shifting internal party dynamics.

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has officially launched his campaign for the federal leadership of the Democratic Alliance (DA).

Speaking at a high-energy rally on the Cape Flats this Friday, Hill-Lewis announced his bid to succeed John Steenhuisen, who recently confirmed he would not be standing for re-election.

The Mayor’s candidacy has already garnered significant momentum, with high-profile party figures such as Siviwe Gwarube and JP Smith publicly offering their backing.

As the leadership race heats up, other key positions are also being contested.

Gauteng DA leader Solly Msimanga has declared his intention to run for federal chairperson.

While the nomination process remains open, early contestations have highlighted some internal party tensions as the DA prepares for a significant transition in its top brass.
