During this past transfer window, Chiefs looked set to bring Mduduzi Mdantsane to Naturena, but the deal with Cape Town City fell through at the last minute.
However, it was then reported that Amakhosi were to set to reignite their bid for his services, even as City chairman John Comitis had suggested that they were planning to offer him a long-term deal – having already triggered the one-year contract option – unless they received a big offer at the right price.

Last month, SABC Sport then reported that the two clubs had eventually agreed to the transfer of the talented midfielder, in principle, effective 1 July as long as all aspects of the deal could be ironed out.
However, this week, when Comitis was asked about Mdantsane and teammate Khanyiso Mayo’s future with the club, he seemed to imply there were no deals done yet.
“At the moment nothing is happening. We are waiting for the end of the season. After that we will make a decision about the players,” Comitis said Isolezwe. “At the moment we are giving all the players a chance to prove themselves on the field in the five games left before the end of the season.
“There has been a lot said regarding our players, but we will not discuss this until somebody approaches us directly and makes an offer,” he continued. “So far nobody has contacted us regarding any of our players. It’s all just rumours.”

CAPE TOWN CITY ADDRESSED THE CHIEFS AND MDANTSANE LINKS PREVIOUSLY
Earlier this year, City head coach Eric Tinkler recently suggested the club had virtually accepted they would be losing the talented player during the last transfer window, until the deal unexpectedly fell through.
“The little that I know, it was very, very close, it was literally last minute that Kaizer Chiefs opted not to go through with the deal,” Tinkler told Marawa Sports Worldwide.

Mdu’s move just a matter of time?
Before the Chiefs move gained traction once again, Comitis said that after opting to exercise the one-year option in his contract, they would look at securing his services in the long-term.
“I have spoken about Mdu in the past and yes we had a conversation with Chiefs in December, they had their chance and didn’t take it,” Comitis still told SABC Sport at the beginning of the year. “The guy still has one more year with us beyond the current season and until such time that something changes I cannot keep talking about Mdu again. He must still play the remainder of the season.”
