In light of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, a number of African countries have found themselves helpless and unable to assist their citizens.

One such country is Cameroon. Earlier on, the government spokesman of Cameroon urged their citizens who are in Ukraine to use the bushes to hide for their own safety.

The government spokesperson’s utterance left many people in stitches and disbelief as they could not believe this is a whole officially statement from the government. Here are some of the reactions;

Philani

Plan B will be like “all Cameroonians in Ukraine must play dead”

Bravie Lunga

🤣🤣 at least they said something but what will they eat in those bushes, is the area having enough bushes?

Themba Phakathi

This cannot be an official statement, sounds like mzansi twitter post.

Madolo Thandile

If there’s no bushes around them. What must happen next

Fafa Fall

Hoohh it’s because they can’t bomb 💣 the bushes

What a legend

Ever since the war between Ukraine and Russia began, there’s been many concerns regarding African people who are residing in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwean government sparked a furore when they responded to citizens’ cries for help saying it can only be able to assist them when they reached third world countries like Poland and Romania.

The Zimbabwe Embassy in Berlin has registered 256 citizens in Ukraine. It has advised nationals to leave Ukraine if it is safe to do so and travel to any third country.

“Currently, there are no flights out of Ukraine (and leaving) has to be by other means. Help will be given when nationals have accessed any of the following third countries, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova and Russia,” Zimmbabwe Permanent secretary tweet reads.
