Pretoria Callies captain Siyabonga Dubala has parted ways with the club via mutual consent ahead of the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
Dubula, 28, joined Callies in January 2022 after an ill-fated stint at TS Sporting where several players were informed to leave the club shortly after signing.
He managed to recover from the experience and steered Callies to safety that season and then push for a promotion play-off spot in the next, but they ultimately fell short with one win in their final five league games.
iDiski Times has been informed the two parties have surprisingly separated before the start of the new season, which was confirmed by the player.
“It’s true I’ve left Callies, I’m currently a free agent and I have my clearance,” he confirmed to this website.
“I had a good time at Callies and played many games as an important player of the team. I can’t falter anyone for anything, I’m happy with the decision I’ve made.
“I’m thankful to the Chairman of the club for the opportunity he afforded me and I just wish everyone at the club the best of luck ahead of the new season.”
In his 38 games played, ‘Chico’ scored five goals and registered seven assists in all competitions.
