Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana has received a first call-up to the Burundi national team in nine months.
Bimenyimana, 25, netted his first goal of 2023 last weekend, when he converted a penalty against Casric FC in the Nedbank Cup.
Overall, Bimenyimana has scored eight goals for the Amakhosi this season, with five of those coming from the penalty spot.
His goal against Casric was his first since 31 December last year, and his overall fine form has seem him getting a recall by Burundi coach Frederic Nsabiyumva.
Bimenyimana had missed Burundi’s last three international games, with his last international match coming in June 2022, when he netted in a 1-1 draw with Namibia at FNB Stadium.
Former West Brom and Stoke City striker Saido Berahino, who is now on the books of AEL Limassol, headlines the squad that only has five local-based footballers.
Burundi will face Indonesia and Kenya in two friendlies later this month
