AmaZulu midfielder Keagan Buchanan says they’re expecting a tough challenge when they host Stellenbosch in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday.
AmaZulu however will go into the encounter on a high, after beating ES Setif 1-0 on Friday in the CAF Champions League, and Buchanan says they want to build on that momentum.
He says they’re still adapting to the tough schedule, playing domestically and on the continent, and they will need to be cautious against a dangerous Stellenbosch team.
“Ja, it’s gonna be a tough game obviously, the games are coming thick and fast to us, so we still adapting to life in the Champions League and playing the league as well,” Buchanan told the club’s media department.
“So it’s gonna be tough to play them because they’re probably a bit fresher. And they are a g team, well structured, well-organised team. So it’s gonna be a tough one.
“But at the end of the day, we just need to obviously focus on what it is the coach wants to implement on the day, and we just want to continue our form of winning, especially at home.
When the clubs last met, Usuthu had to fight back from two goals down to force a draw, and Buchanan says they felt they let themselves down a bit in that encounter.
“Ja, I think that game we let ourselves down a bit,” he added.
“But we showed our quality to come back from two goals down, but I feel like if we were more clinical with our chances that we do create, then it could have been a different ballgame.
“But I mean, that’s water under the bridge, we just need to like I said, continue our form that we’re currently in, and pick up as many points especially obviously having a home game and we want to continue on the run that we’re on, so we will always do our best to make sure that we get the win at home.”
