Broos – Why I Want To Meet ‘Upset’ Ntseki

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has explained that he is keen to meet with Molefi Ntseki to address his recent comments, which upset the Kaizer Chiefs coach but he feels were misquoted.

Broos had initially dropped all three Chiefs players, who were in his preliminary squad, from his final selection and explained that he feels the performances of Amakhosi players “are not good enough” to be called up to Bafana.

He has since had to make an enforced change, with Pule Mmodi being called up to replace the injured Themba Zwane.

On Monday, Broos opened up on the “commotion with Kaizer Chiefs”, saying he was left with a bitter taste in his mouth after he was misquoted over his initial statements.

He has now explained that he will make a point of meeting Ntseki before the next international break to iron out the misunderstanding.

“After the game against Belgium I’ll go back to Belgium for two weeks, because after that I have October and November [international breaks], so I have to be here,” he said.

“If I want to see my family I have to go for two weeks. But after those two weeks I’ll make contact with Ntseki because I know him very well.

“I had a few meetings [with him] when I came here because my first idea was to have him as my assistant. But ok, it didn’t work and then came Helman [Mkhalele] and I’m very happy.

“So I know him [Ntseki] very well and I know that he is upset because I said that players don’t deserve — now, currently to be at Bafana Bafana because of their performances.

“I didn’t say that he didn’t change anything because then you attack a colleague on his skills and I will never do that. It’s worse, when somebody puts those words in your mouth — and that he has to know. So I will make contact with him when I come back.”

Bafana take on Namibia on 9 September at Orlando Stadium before hosting DR Congo at the same venue on 12 September.
