Broos To Ring The Changes Vs Angola

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has revealed he will ring the changes for Sunday’s match against Angola, because some players have played too much in recent weeks.

The Belgian tactician is hopeful his side can finish the year with their fourth successive victory after beating Sierra Leone (4-0), Botswana (1-0) and Mozambique (2-1) in their last three games.

However, Broos indicated on Saturday that he is keen to test his bench against Angola, to give other players a chance to impress him ahead of the important AFCON qualifiers against Liberia in March.

“There will be changes also in the team,” he told journalists during his pre-match press conference, which was attended by iDiski Times.

“We don’t have to forget that the last three weeks have been tough for some clubs, with the MTN8 semi-final, the MTN8 final and the Carling Cup.

“There are guys who played like four games, so I think we have to be careful with that that we don’t overload them too much.

“Therefor there will be changes in the team for tomorrow. It gives the opportunity to guys who didn’t play Thursday, to show their qualities.

“With a good performance I will not forget them in March. This is also important and as you know is a team only as strong as the bench. When you have a good bench, when you good substitutes you can be very strong and that is one thing we are trying to do now, to create that one group of [core] players, from whom we know ok there will always be a little difference but if tomorrow we have injuries or suspensions, that by changing a player I will not change much on the pitch.

“Therefor the guys that will play tomorrow that didn’t play Thursday, for them it’s an opportunity to be a candidate again for the games next year against Liberia.

“I said it already 10 times but I will repeat it again an 11th time, two very important games, we want to go to AFCON, so we have to win, we don’t have to win, a win and a draw is enough but we have to play for two victories. No discussion, nothing.

“Therefor again the games we played in September, November are a good preparation for that. Let’s hope we can finish the camp with a victory, it will remain the positive vibe which is now with the national team and it will give us and everyone the confidence of believing that we will go to the AFCON.”
