TS Galaxy midfielder Ethan Brooks has opened up on whether they can better their unbeaten record of last season ahead of hosting Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership.
Sundowns come into the tie on Wednesday buoyed with confidence after beating African champions Al Ahly in Egypt this weekend and are 31 points ahead of the Rockets, despite their recent run of form.
Galaxy, meanwhile, are unbeaten in three successive match after beating Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup, Swallows in the league before their goalless draw with AmaZulu last week.
“It will be really good to replicate last season’s eight matches unbeaten but it will also take a lot for that to happen, you know in terms of facing Sundowns,” Brooks said ahead of the Masandawna clash on Wednesday.
“Sundowns have come back from winning Al Ahly, it will take a lot for us to actually get a good result in that game. I feel like if we’d like that then we should stay focused on the game and hand, be unified and just enjoy the game.
“You know we beat Chiefs, caused an upset, can we do it this year also? I really think we can but at the same time – we also need to stay focused and work hard.
“Our game is at home so I’m looking forward to that, I’d like to start on a good note, it’s a game at home – and in terms of our turnaround?
“Everyone is working really hard at training, everyone’s been focused and I think that leads to the three-match unbeaten run.”
The 21-year-old Bafana Bafana midfielder has played in 19 of Galaxy’s 20 games this season across all competitions as his meteoric rise in the South African top-flight continues.
