  • Brian Molefe replaces Mpiyakhe Limba as the new Treasurer General to bolster the party’s financial and strategic leadership.
  • Colleen Makhubele is ousted as Chief Whip, with Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi assuming the role in a caretaker capacity.
  • Vanessa Calvert returns as Parliamentary Chief of Staff following the immediate upliftment of her suspension.

The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has announced a significant reorganization of its leadership and parliamentary caucus. In a statement released by the party, it was confirmed that the decision was led by President Jacob Zuma and the National Officials to strengthen the movement’s political mandate.

The most notable change is the appointment of former Eskom and Transnet CEO Brian Molefe as the party’s new Treasurer General. Molefe replaces Mpiyakhe Limba, who was relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

The party cited Molefe’s extensive experience in public administration, finance, and governance as the primary reasons for his appointment during this “phase of the party’s growth.”

Changes were also made within the party’s parliamentary structures. Colleen Makhubele has been removed from her position as Chief Whip, though she will remain a Member of Parliament.

To ensure continuity, Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi, the NCOP Chief Whip, will take over the role in a caretaker capacity.

Additionally, the party announced the immediate reinstatement of Vanessa Calvert as Chief of Staff in the Parliamentary Caucus following the upliftment of her suspension. The MK Party expressed gratitude to the outgoing officials for their service while emphasizing that these shifts are aimed at enhancing internal governance and strategic capability.
