Brenda Ngxoli to play Brenda Fassie in new docu

Actress Brenda Ngxoli is set to bring the legendary Brenda Fassie to life in SABC1’s upcoming documentary series, Vulindlela.

Known for her roles on The Queen and Home Affairs, Ngxoli will portray the late pop icon in dramatized scenes that capture key moments of her life and career.

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela confirmed the news on X, saying, “Brenda Ngxoli plays Brenda Fassie. The incomparable Ngxoli takes on the role of the iconic entertainer in Vulindlela, a four-part documentary series. The docu-series charts Brenda Fassie’s extraordinary rise from obscurity to South African music royalty. After hitting rock bottom, Brenda was written off by the industry. She defied expectations and reinvented herself through the iconic album Vulindlela.”

Ngxoli, who recently announced her new management, is expected to deliver a compelling performance as she steps into the shoes of one of South Africa’s most influential music legends.

Vulindlela is set to premiere on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at 8 PM on SABC1.
