Composers, Authors and Publishers Association (CAPASSO) proudly announced on Tuesday, 10 March, that Brenda Mtambo is their new deputy chairperson.

The I Love You hitmaker, who is also an advocate for mental health, forms part of the leadership team that serves to execute the organisation’s policies regarding the management of artists’ music rights and royalties.

CAPASSO is an organisation responsible for handling royalties administration for its members, which include music publishers, composers, and songwriters.

BRENDA UNWRAPS NEW CHAPTER IN HER CAREER

In recent leadership developments at CAPASSO, Brenda takes over from the legendary musician Yvonne Chaka Chaka, who wrapped up her six-year tenure with the company.

As reported by Daily Sun, Brenda vowed to serve as an ethical leader and to use her new role to advocate for fair compensation for artists.

“Serving as deputy chairperson of CAPASSO is both an honour and a responsibility I carry with deep respect. As a composer, I understand first-hand the importance of protecting intellectual property and building systems that genuinely serve creators,“

“I’m committed to ethical leadership, inclusive representation, and ensuring that CAPASSO continues to evolve in ways that secure long-term value for composers and publishers alike,” said Brenda, who has now moved up the ranks within the organisation as she was appointed as a board member in 2024.

Jotam Matiriro, the CEO of CAPASSO, extended a warm welcome to Brenda, who is confident that her wealth of experience as an artist will help in identifying the challenges faced by artists in the music industry.

“Brenda brings a unique perspective as an active singer-songwriter who understands the realities faced by creators. Her voice provides an important bridge between the boardroom and the artist community.” said Jotam.
