Public Figure Ngizwe Mchunu Accused of Assault and Threatening Whistleblower Over Domestic Abuse Allegations
Former broadcaster Ngizwe Mchunu is facing serious allegations after a public statement made by award-winning Maskandi musician Khuzani Mlungose claimed he severely assaulted the mother of his child on 22 June 2026, leaving her hospitalised.
According to Khuzani, the victim allegedly sought help from an unnamed public figure after failing to get immediate assistance from the police.
Following the incident, Mchunu reportedly launched a targeted campaign of defamation and physical threats against the individual who stepped in to assist the victim.
According to the statement, the victim was hospitalised following a brutal physical altercation. After struggling to open a criminal case through standard channels, she reached out via social media on the night of the attack to plead for intervention.
The individual assisting her revealed that the victim provided direct evidence, including a video detailing the injuries and damage caused during the incident.
The situation escalated when Mchunu discovered that the victim had exposed the alleged abuse. Instead of addressing the core issue, Mchunu allegedly accused the mediator of instigating his arrest and interfering in his private household affairs.
The statement claims Mchunu has resorted to public defamation and has gone as far as making ominous threats against the whistleblower’s family, allegedly stating that “there will be mourning” at their home.
The whistleblower has firmly denied initiating contact with the victim, clarifying that the mother of Mchunu’s child reached out independently out of desperation.
“I did not even have her phone number,” the statement reads. “Stop falsely accusing me… The video was sent by the mother of your child herself, showing me the damage. I do not speak about things that do not have evidence.”
The publisher of the statement concluded by indicating that photographic and video evidence supporting these claims has been securely documented.
Mchunu has yet to issue an official response to these specific allegations.
