Bafana Bafana Thrash Eritrea 5-0 To Make It Two Wins From Two
Bafana Bafana produced a dominant display in Cairo on Wednesday night, cruising to a 5-0 victory over Eritrea in their second 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group D match.
The result gives Pitso Mosimane’s side back-to-back victories after their 2-1 win over Guinea in their opening qualifier.
Relebohile Mofokeng was the star of the show, scoring twice to put Bafana firmly in control. The young attacker opened the scoring in the 19th minute before striking again shortly after the restart in the 46th minute.
Sphephelo Sithole then added a third in the 52nd minute as Bafana continued to pile pressure on the Red Sea Camels.
The South Africans completed the rout late in the match, with the scoreline eventually finishing 5-0.
The victory is particularly significant after Mosimane repeatedly warned his players not to underestimate Eritrea, who had held Kenya to a 1-1 draw in their opening Group D match.
Bafana now have six points from two matches and have made an excellent start to their AFCON qualifying campaign.
