Junior Springboks defend U20 World title
The Junior Springboks have been crowned World Rugby U20 champions for the second year running after beating France 16-5 in Saturday’s final at Mikheil Meskhi Stadium.
Flyhalf Yaqeen Ahmed kicked 11 points, while centre Markus Muller scored the only try of the match as South Africa controlled proceedings with a powerful set-piece game and solid defence. France replied with a late try but could not break the Junior Boks’ resolve.
The win makes South Africa the first U20 side from the country to achieve back-to-back titles. It caps an unbeaten tournament and extends their winning streak to 18 matches since the 2025 edition. The Junior Boks also won the U20 Rugby Championship earlier this year.
Head coach Kevin Foote’s team once again underlined South Africa’s dominance in age-grade rugby.
