Bontle Modiselle says she is fine with being a breadwinner in her marriage

Bontle Modiselle has finally addressed ongoing criticism about being the primary provider in her marriage to rapper Priddy Ugly.

The choreographer and media personality appeared alongside her husband on the latest episode of L-Tido’s podcast, where the topic of finances in their marriage came up.

The host asked Modiselle how she feels about being labelled the breadwinner, a narrative that has frequently surfaced on social media.

In response, Bontle made it clear that she has no issue with supporting her household, explaining that marriage comes with different seasons.

She shared that when her husband faces financial challenges, she steps in without hesitation, and when the tables turn, he does the same for her.

For Modiselle, partnership is about mutual support rather than rigid gender roles.

She went on to stress that financial provision alone does not define a good partner.

According to her, a man can have money yet fail to be a responsible husband and father.

Beyond finances, she believes a partner must bring emotional support, leadership and accountability into a marriage.

A snippet of the interview quickly circulated online, sparking intense debate.

While many applauded the couple’s mature outlook on marriage, others strongly disagreed.

One X user wrote, “This is not how it was meant to be. The pride of a men is in providing for his family. I don’t care what anyone say. Come for me, I can send you location if you want to discuss this further over coffee.”

Another commented, “This is a real woman, not the other ones abo indoda must , must for what.”

A third user added, “People here will still find fault with this relationship. It is like they are trying to close the parts of their childhood that were not perfect by projecting their issues to others.”
