Bonang Matheba’s tax drama dims House of BNG glitzy retreat

Usually, when Bonang Matheba is making headlines, it is due to her outstanding work across various sectors; after all, she’s a multifaceted media darling.

Bonang’s tax drama comes at the worst time, as it has overshadowed the new mimosa flavour retreat from her alcohol brand, House of BNG, which took place on Saturday, 7 March.

BONANG MATHEBA’S TAX WOES

The tide of Bonang’s good media run turned when the South African Revenue Service (SARS) looked into her 2025 tax records and discovered that she owes over 7 million rands in unpaid taxes.

The beloved media personality has been given ten days to either settle her tax debt or negotiate a payment plan.

As reported by TimesLive, Bonang’s publicist, Jerry Deeuw, declined to divulge details as it is a private matter between his client and SARS.

“All information relating to tax disputes is confidential. Ms Matheba’s affairs with Sars are confidential, and if there are any disputes, that would be an issue between her and the South African Revenue Service.”

BONANG’S BRUSH WITH SARS IN 2018

This isn’t the first time Bonang and SARS have crossed paths. Back in 2018, the Mafikeng-born star found herself in trouble after failing to submit her personal income tax returns from 2008 to 2017 and company tax from 2014 – 2017.

However, the case was struck off the roll after the B’Dazzled star paid a R30,000 admission of guilt fine after being charged for tax evasion.
