Bonang Matheba is set to launch her own talent agency, citing a void in the industry that needs to be filled. In an interview with Thando Thabethe, the media personality shared her ambitions and revealed that getting into talent management is a top priority for her due to the lack of governance in the entertainment industry.

Bonang, who has been vocal in her criticism of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, is looking to change the game in the entertainment industry in South Africa. The 36-year-old, who last year called for the resignation of previous Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, believes that there is a wealth of talent in the country that is not being properly cultivated.

“We have so many superstars, but why aren’t they where they need to be? We don’t know how to cultivate them, provide for them, and move them to where they need to be. It’s like a power production agency, part talent hub because South Africans are great and we are fantastic, but we have not mastered talent management, and there’s no governance in our entertainment industry.”

A New Approach

Bonang, who parted ways with her former management agency Celebrity Services Africa (CSA), hopes that with her experience in the industry she can guide new talent as they hone their skills. The Queen B, as she is affectionately known by South Africans, did not mention when her talent agency will be launching.
