- Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt after two tourists were found murdered in the Kruger National Park.
- The victims’ bodies were discovered near the Levubu River days after they were last seen at the Pafuri picnic site.
- Authorities are also investigating a possible hijacking after the couple’s green Ford Ranger went missing.
Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for suspects allegedly involved in the brutal murder of two tourists in the Kruger National Park.
The tourists’ lifeless bodies were discovered near Cross Corner, at the intersection of the Levubu and Limpopo rivers inside the park.
Preliminary information suggests that a 71-year-old white male and a white female, whose identity is still being confirmed, arrived at one of the camps in the Kruger National Park on Sunday, 17 May 2026, driving a green Ford Ranger double cab.
The pair was last seen on Wednesday morning, 20 May 2026, at the Pafuri picnic site.
When they failed to return, a search operation was launched.
On Friday afternoon, 22 May 2026, other tourists reportedly discovered their bodies floating near Cross Corner on the banks of the Levubu River and immediately alerted police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the male victim sustained stab wounds to the upper body, while the female victim also suffered severe upper-body injuries allegedly inflicted with a sharp object.
The vehicle believed to have been used by the victims, a green Ford Ranger double cab, is still missing.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and police have opened two murder cases, as well as a hijacking case, for further investigation.
The South African Police Service is working closely with Kruger National Park authorities as investigations continue.
