Bobby Opens Up On Calls For Erasmus

Kaizer Chiefs Team Manager Bobby Motaung has responded to fans urging the club to go after Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit Erasmus.

Chiefs made several additions this window, including new striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, who became the latest attacking player to join the Glamour Boys.

However, several of the club’s supporters have urged the club to also go after Erasmus, who has seemingly become surplus to requirements at Chloorkop and could still leave the club before the window close on Thursday.

Bobby Motaung, though, insisted that Erasmus has not been identified as a target by the club’s technical team around head coach Arthur Zwane and Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr.

“Well, unfortunately the technical stuff, everybody has put their heads together to find out if there is a need and how many similar players is it we have like him or is it a different type of striker that we need,” he told Thabiso Mosia on SAFMSportOn.

“Those are the things that become technical.

“I understand that football fans want everything, they want Erasmus, they wanted somebody from Egypt, they want this one – it’s normal because they’re wishing well for the club.

“But unfortunately sometimes for the club, there is technical staff, there is people analysing things and come up to us and say this is a need, this is what we need.

“Those decisions are not taken by me alone, we sit down, we analyse.”

Erasmus, meanwhile, has been linked with an exit from Mamelodi Sundowns after falling further down the pecking order following the arrivals of Marcelo Allende and Abubeker Nasir,

but time is running out for the former Cape Town City striker.
