Blood moon to light up South Africa’s skies on Sunday evening

A rare Blood Moon will be visible across South Africa tonight during a total lunar eclipse.
The eclipse will peak at 8:11 p.m. and no special equipment is needed to view it.

South Africans are in for a treat tonight as a Blood Moon is set to grace the skies during a rare total lunar eclipse.

According to astronomers, the eclipse will be visible from 7:30 p.m. to 8:52 p.m., with the peak of the Blood Moon occurring at approximately 8:11 p.m.

This will be the longest total lunar eclipse visible since 2022, and experts say tonight’s moon will appear deeper and richer in red than usual.
