Police caught a jewellery shop robbery gang ringleader in Hillbrow, who they have been hunting for since May.
Cops found him relaxing and drinking beer with friends.
The suspect tried to bribe police with “a huge sum of money,” but they refused. He could now also face bribery charges.
Police say he’s part of a bigger gang that has been terrorising Gauteng businesses, mostly jewellery shops.
He might also be charged with attempted murder for shots fired during a mall robbery.
On May 31, at least five armed robbers stole jewellery from Atlas Mall in Atlasville, Ekurhuleni.
They escaped in a white VW Polo, shooting at the gate as they left.
CCTV footage shows the unmasked suspects calmly taking jewellery and fleeing. All wore black jackets and hats.
In July, three suspects, thought to be part of the gang, were rearrested after being mysteriously released before their court appearance.
The ringleader will appear in court on Thursday on robbery and attempted murder charges.
