Afro-pop duo Blaq Diamond have issued an apology after missing their scheduled performance at the Gagasi FM Summer Sessions in Newcastle over the weekend.

The pair were set to perform at Khazins Shisanyama on December 28, but unforeseen travel issues forced them to pull out at the last minute.

In a statement shared by their management team, Umuthi Group, the musicians explained that their vehicle encountered mechanical problems while travelling from Johannesburg, causing significant delays.

“On our way from Johannesburg, we experienced vehicle problems en route to Newcastle. Despite exploring all available options and remaining in constant communication with the Gagasi FM team, we were unfortunately unable to make it,” the statement read.

The duo expressed regret to the fans who had gathered in anticipation of seeing them live, acknowledging the disappointment caused by their absence.

“We sincerely apologise to all patrons who came hoping to see Blaq Diamond perform. Together with Gagasi FM and all stakeholders, we tried to salvage the situation, but it was not successful,” they added.

Blaq Diamond also hinted at a positive development for fans, confirming that plans for a free make-up show are already underway and will be announced soon.

They further expressed gratitude to the event organisers and Gagasi FM for their support and patience during the ordeal.

“We would like to thank the organizers for doing their best to explore other avenues and for being patient with us,” the statement read.

Reassuring supporters of their commitment, the duo promised they would return to Newcastle in the near future to make it up to their fans, underlining their dedication to delivering memorable live performances.
