The Black Coffee Foundation is expanding its Gift of Sight by Black Coffee initiative with the introduction of a dedicated dental care programme for learners, further strengthening its commitment to improving children’s health and educational outcomes.

Bringing vision and dental care together
The expanded initiative starts off with a roll out at Zenzeleni Primary School in Alexandra from 27 – 29 July 2026, where learners will receive oral health assessments alongside comprehensive eye screenings and vision testing. By combining dental and vision care, the Foundation aims to identify and address health challenges that may affect a child’s confidence, well-being and ability to learn.
Building on the on-going success of Gift of Sight by Black Coffee, which has already provided eye testing to thousands of learners, the Foundation continues to champion early intervention by ensuring children receive access to essential healthcare services that can positively impact their development both inside and outside the classroom.
The programme is delivered in partnership with Lepas, the official mobility partner of the Black Coffee Foundation, and is made possible through the continued support of the Foundation’s Gift of Sight by Black Coffee partners, including Tania Noach Optometrists, the South African Optometric Association (SAOA), Love Maison33, and JHB VIP, all of whom have played an instrumental role in expanding access to quality eye care for children.

A holistic approach to children’s well-being
As the initiative evolves, the Foundation is also proud to welcome Fourways Dental Studio as a new partner who will support the introduction of the dental screenings and follow up care where required; new partner Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital who will support the on-going eye-testing for the Gift of Sight project; as well as new partner Diamonds Do Good who has committed investment with the Black Coffee Foundation.

The Black Coffee Foundation believes that healthy learners are better equipped to succeed in the classroom and beyond. By detecting vision and oral health concerns early, the Foundation is helping remove barriers to learning while creating healthier futures for children and their communities.
The visit to Zenzeleni Primary School marks another important milestone in the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable, community-led programmes that create lasting change for children and families across South Africa.
