Newly signed TS Galaxy attacker Bernard Parker has vowed to repay the faith shown in him by the club chairman Tim Sukazi.
Parker was set to join SuperSport United after Gavin Hunt publicly expressed his desire to bring him on board. However, the former Bafana Bafana international was training with Matsatsantsa before he was snatched by the Rockets to sign a two-year deal.
The veteran forward links up with Xola Mlambo, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Keletso Makgalwa, who joined the club on a season long-loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
“I’d like to give thanks to the chairman [Tim Sukazi] that he gave me a call, and he was surprised that I don’t have a team. He explained how he values me and how much of a good player I’ll be for the team, and I’m grateful for this opportunity.
“Being here, I immediately felt like I’m home with the type of warm reception I got, and I’m looking forward to great things. The team is already showing signs that they can challenge and compete against any team; we’ve seen it now when they beat two big teams[Sundowns and SuperSport],” former Thanda Roya Zulu star told the media.
The 36-year-old striker also weighed in on his qualities to his new club as they sought to compete on all fronts. “I’ve played at the highest level, FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana. So mine now is to share the experience and continue my journey. Hopefully, this young, energetic team will learn from me,” he added.
The Boksburg-born star, who made 24 appearances and scored 4 four goals, was released by Amakhosi in the off-season after the club opted against extending his contract. Other released players are Leonardo Castro, Samir Nurkovic, Daniel Akpeyi, Lazarous Kambole, Dumisani Zuma, Kearyn Baccus, Lebogang Manyama, Sibusiso Mabiliso, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Siphokashe Ntiya-Ntiya and Daniel Cardoso who have since joined Sekhukhune United.
