Berita has set social media alight after openly acknowledging the role her ex-husband, Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi, played in the creation of her acclaimed album Songs in the Key of Love.

The Afro-soul singer shared a deeply emotional clip on X, offering a rare glimpse into the demanding process behind the 2015 SAMA-winning project.

In the video, Berita speaks candidly about how Nota, who served as executive producer at the time, pushed her and the team to keep going when exhaustion threatened to halt progress.

With her voice filled with emotion, she said, “He pushed us… We were tired, but he kept saying, ‘Finish it.’”

The moment felt intimate and unfiltered, with Berita dressed in a pink top against a plain white backdrop as she reflected on how Nota’s determination and direction helped transform the album into a celebrated body of work that went on to win the Rest of Africa category at the SAMAs.

Following the clip, fans flooded timelines with reactions. Many praised Nota for his drive and influence, crediting him for what they described as Berita’s strongest era.

Others pointed out how noticeably quiet the singer’s career has been since their divorce, suggesting that his presence behind the scenes played a bigger role than previously acknowledged.

The caption accompanying the clip summed up the general sentiment: “Wow, NOTA is truly him. He really is exactly who he thinks he is.”

Berita shared how her then-husband, NOTA, pushed her and the team to complete the recording of her SAMA award-winning album ‘Songs in the Key of Love’, which he also executive-produced.♥️
