Manchester United first-team coach Benni McCarthy has sent a message of support of his former Orlando Pirates teammate Moeneeb Josephs.

The former Bucs goalkeeper is seemingly starting a new adventure, which looks to be the foundation of an academy.

Having heard about Josephs new venture, McCarthy, who now works as first-team coach in the technical team of Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United, sent Josephs a heartfelt message of support.

“Listen, I’m just finding out, how’s things going with the academy? How’s things evolving a little bit? Hope you’re making good progress,” he said via a video that was shared by Josephs.

“I know you’re a hard worker, and you will want to make this work, and you will put your best effort into it. I believe in you, because I know you from player, a good friend, and a colleague working together.

“So I know, once you put your mind to it that you will do your utmost best, and then this thing will be a success. And I’m behind your brother, whatever you need. I’m here, I’m a phone call away.

“I know, I’m on the other side of the world, but I’m a phone call away. And if I can come to your aid in any possible way, just holla, just let me know what it is and I’ll see what I can do.

“And even if I can help promote in some way, use the context, and the personalities that I work with now, that I have yet the club, they might even get involved, sending little messages to your academy and stuff once it’s up and running, I would gladly do so.

“And also once you guys find your feet, and sometime after the World Cup next year before the season finish, maybe the guys, the people that are investing in you, maybe you can do something nice for them.

“If you guys have what it takes fly out to Manchester, we go for dinner, we go for lunch, I’ll maybe invite one or two of the players for them to meet, or even take them to the training ground one day to meet the guy, to meet some of the players, because it would be a nice little gesture, just for them investing into you.

“So yeah, so let me know brutjie, everything of the best. Keep pushing, keep working harder, I believe in you my bru. Okay. And hope to see you guys, you and your investors in Manchester one day soon. Okay.”

McCarthy and Josephs have played alongside each other at Bafana Bafana as well as Pirates during their playing career, before Josephs joined McCarthy as goalkeeper coach at Cape Town City and AmaZulu.
