Kenyan President William Ruto has officially recognised the impressive performance of the Harambee Stars at the recent CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), hosting head coach Benni McCarthy and his team at the State House on Monday.
The celebratory event came after Kenya co-hosted the CHAN tournament with neighbouring nations, capturing the imagination of the public with their spirited campaign.
Under McCarthy’s leadership, the team topped a challenging Group A with three wins and a draw, accumulating 10 points.
Their journey ended with a heartbreaking penalty shootout loss to eventual finalists Madagascar in the quarter-finals.
Despite falling short of the final, the team’s inspiring run and the unwavering support from fans made it a memorable tournament for the country.
