A mix-up involving MacG and a guest expected to appear on Podcast and Chill has sparked amusement online after the host reportedly realised he was interviewing the wrong person.

MacG had apparently expected to interview Benjamin Maponya, Solomon ‘MySol’ Soka Madibela’s former business associate, amid the controversy surrounding Benjamin’s allegations against MySol and their dispute over the N4 Cluster mining tender at Buffels West.

However, the interview took an unexpected turn when Mac G realised that the person sitting across from him was not Benjamin, but a guest who had arrived for Podcast with David.

The confusion created an awkward but humorous moment, with the mix-up drawing reactions from social media users.

An unexpected guest mix-up

The incident comes amid heightened attention surrounding Benjamin, who recently broke a three-year silence during an interview on Podcast and Chill.

During that appearance, Benjamin made allegations about his former business relationship with MySol, claiming he had been sidelined from the N4 Cluster mining tender at Buffels West following disagreements over payments and other demands.

MySol subsequently obtained a reported Gauteng High Court interdict on 8 October 2026, preventing the broadcast of the episode and restricting related allegations concerning criminal involvement. A further hearing was reportedly scheduled for 22 October 2026.

Social media reacts to the confusion

The mix-up attracted attention because of the ongoing controversy surrounding Benjamin and MySol. MacG’s apparent expectation of interviewing Benjamin, followed by the realisation he was speaking to Mr Maleka instead, became a source of amusement online.

While the incident provided comic relief amid the serious allegations and legal developments, the underlying dispute between Benjamin and MySol remains unresolved.

The unexpected guest confusion has added another talking point for audiences following the developments surrounding Podcast and Chill.
