Kaizer Chiefs coach Khalil Ben Youssef has set his sights on keeping Amakhosi among the top three in the Betway Premiership as they prepare to host Orbit College at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Amakhosi currently sit fourth on the log, but victory over the newly promoted side could propel them up to second place.
Ben Youssef admits consistency was their biggest downfall last season.
“Last season, our biggest problem was that we weren’t consistent in our performances and results,” the Tunisian tactician told the media.
“Our target this season has been to keep the players ready for every game, they have to fight in each and every one of them.”
Ben Youssef looking for wins
Ben Youssef emphasised that the team has shifted focus from style to substance, prioritising results over aesthetics.
“We need to be consistent in both performances and results. We take every match as a cup final,” he continued. “For us, the most important thing is to win games; performances come second.
“If you remember last year, we started the season with a lot of good performances but without results. Now, we only think about results. Of course, we’ll be happy if the results come with good performances, but first and foremost, we want to win,” Ben Youssef concluded.
Chiefs’ win over Durban City has lifted the team up and could very well be on their way to another victory at home. Under Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, Amakhosi have shown fight and hunger.
Having reached the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup, the Glamour Boys have two major competitions to fight for in the coming months. Next year, the team will kick off their Nedbank Cup defence having beaten Orlando Pirates in the final back in May to lift their first title in a decade.
All eyes will be on Ben Youssef and Kaze to deliver positive results as co-coaches.
