Baxter Discusses Lack Of Changes In His Chiefs Line-Ups

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has discussed whether or not he should mix up his starting XIs for the last eight games of the season.

The Englishman is known for preferring consistency in his line-ups despite fans calling for players such as Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Njabulo Ngcobo to be given more game time.

Baxter, though, has explained that he is tentative about making too many changes because it “smacks of panic”.

“I think you’ve got to temper your desire to bring in new faces,”

“You’ve got to temper that with the fact that if you do that and then you don’t get the results that you want, then it smacks of panic – not knowing your best XI and so on.

“Whatever I do between now and the end of the season, it won’t be just wholesale changes because that smacks of panic.

“I think what we do need to do is, we need to bring in the fresh legs when we need them. Like I brought in the two kids tonight and I thought that was right because I wanted their energy levels and I wanted their enthusiasm and I wanted their unafraidness.

“I think you’re right, we do need that balance and we do need to bring in something that will inspire a kick-on but how much that is, you’ve got to temper that with a little bit of consistency.”

Chiefs only return to action on Saturday, 16 April when they will host SuperSport United at FNB Stadium.
