Baxter – A Deserved Win

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter says that while it took a stoppage time goal to get the three points, it was a deserved win over Baroka.

Khama Billiat struck late for the 1-0 win, that lifts Chiefs to second-place in the DStv Premiership table.

Baxter says with the amount of chances they had, they should have scored more, but he credited his team for the effort they put in through the ninety minutes.

“They reckon that every three strikes on target should result in a goal,” Baxter told SuperSport after the game.

“So yeah, we should have been 2-0 up, I suppose you could say, but look, you’ve got to give the lads credit because they were working very, very hard.

“They kept their faith with what they were doing. The substitutes came on and they had a bit of an impact.

“And so you’ve got to say well done to them. We play some very good stuff at times.

“Again, as I said, we get into good situations. We build well, we probe well, movement is good, but that one right until the finish, when Keegan’s through and the keeper a makes a great save.

“So I think it’s a well deserved win, but it’s one that you know with experience it can go pear-shaped.”
