Cape Town Spurs head coach Shaun Bartlett is targeting their first three points since winning promotion when they face Chippa United on Friday night at Athlone Stadium.
Spurs hasn’t started the season well after losing all three games including one at home against Sekhukhune United.
The Urban Warriors have been sitting at the bottom of the standings a place they don’t like to see themselves into.
Bartlett believes players have adapted and they ready to fight for the first three points.
“Very difficult situation at this moment in time having played three games and not getting a result in any of those games and we’re coming up to our second home game now, against Chippa,” Bartlett told Spurs media
“I believe our last performance against Polokwane was much better than the previous two. But once again, is the small margins that we have to focus on not making individual errors and then obviously, with all the changes that we’ve been creating, we’ve got to convert at least 50% of them, which hasn’t happened in the past.
“It’s a massive game for us. I think the boys have now adjusted to the level of the DSTV Premiership.
“Hopefully this time around, the performance that we’ll put on, put in on Friday night against Chippa will also warrant a result. Hopefully, that result will be our first victory in the Premiership.
“That is what we’ve been preparing for. Players are looking also much sharper, confident, I think once we apply ourselves, the instructions and the right attitude, I’m pretty sure we can get a result.
“So once again, it’s a home game, and the support of the fans is always massive for us. They’ve always been out of man. But in order for us to keep that support going, we’ve got all to ensure that we get results.
“That’s the only way we can ensure that we get people back to the stadiums is by getting the results and those results. Obviously, there have to be more victories than draws in order to ensure we stabilize the team in the DStv Premiership.”
The two sides face off in the Mother City this evening at 19h30.
