Baroka Relegated, Parker Sends Swallows To Playoffs

Ten-man Kaizer Chiefs sent Swallows to the relegation playoffs while Baroka went down in their DStv Premiership finale on Saturday afternoon.
Chiefs started the game knowing they have a chance of securing a place in the top-three with a win against their Soweto rivals who needed victory to have any chance of retaining their top-flight status.
And it was their former player Njabulo Ngcobo, who won the PSL Defender of the Season with the Birds last season who opened the scoring with a well-time header after 21 minutes at the Calabash.
Kamohelo Mahlatsi was a real livewire as the visitors’ main creative outlet and nearly levelled matters after the half-hour mark but his curling effort went just narrowly wide of Bruce Bvuma’s post.
The second half proved to be a rather frenetic affair with Phathutshedzo Nange receiving a red card for a handball after the hour mark which also resulted in a penalty as Dillon Solomons slotted home to equalise.
And barely five minutes later the Dube Birds received another penalty from yet another handball which Solomons duly slotted home to move them into 14th place ahead of TS Galaxy at the time. But the Rockets managed to score a 91st-minute winner through Given Msimango while Bernard Parker equalised with a free-kick to turn the tide again.

With Bakgaga losing to Maritzburg United thanks to Clayton Daniels’ second-half goal, they finished 16th and were relegated to the GladAfrica Championship, while the Dube Birds go to the playoffs and Galaxy survive.
