Baroka FC’s brand continues to grow with sponsors despite its relegation from the South African football top-flight.
Bakgaga’s performance in the field of play might have dipped in the last campaign, but that has not deterred sponsors with the club’s income from brands eager to associate with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side.
The club recently penned a five-year deal with the petroleum company Global as their title sponsor.
The Limpopo club also secured a new partnership with water company Powered-Up and Baroka Funerals.
“I will say the relationship is like when your master is going away, and he gives you two shillings, and when he comes back, he finds out that you have made four shillings from the two he gave you when he left. So, the money they give to us, we invest in the team. We don’t eat and buy cars,” said the chairman.
“When they come here [Baroka Village], they could see where their money went and that gives them confidence. We are now naming this stadium Baroka Global Stadium as a reward to them because they are giving us money, and we must give them something so that they can be happy to continue with us even though we are not in the highest league.
“We are very grateful. We pray that we continue to grow and grow.”
The Global chairman Mr John Mphosi was present at the Baroka launch on Saturday to officially open the Baroka Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo.
Mphosi went on to discuss the future plans for Baroka and what they hope to see happen this coming season, and he said: “the plan is simple, get Baroka back to the Premier Soccer League.”
The side will play all its home games at the newly named Baroka Global Stadium in the upcoming season.
