Banyana Banyana’s opponents for Saturday’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final have been revealed after hosts Morocco shocked defending champions Nigeria.

The Super Falcons entered the game as clear favourites, having won 11 out 13 previous editions of the tournament.

However, the hosts, who’ve reached the knockout stages for the first time ever have knocked the defending champions out of the competition on Monday night.

Nigeria made things harder for themselves, receiving two red cards. First Halimatu Ayinde got sent off after 48 minutes before Rasheedat Ajibade received the second red after VAR review in the 71st minute.

The Super Falcons had even gone ahead with 10 men, Yasmin Mrabet scored an own-goal in the 62nd minute but Morocco’s Sanaa Mssoudy equalised just four minutes later.

Nigeria, though, survived until penalties despite playing with nine women for all of extra-time and were now favoured to win based on their tournament experience.

Morocco, though, kept a 100% record from the spot and will face Banyana in Saturday’s final.
