Banyana Banyana will play a friendly match against European champions England on 29 October in Coventry.

After missing out on the 2024 Olympic Games, Banyana will face England to get ready for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in Morocco in July 2025.

Coach Desiree Ellis said: “After playing two friendly matches against Senegal in June, this is a great chance for us to get ready for Wafcon. Facing England will test us in a different way. We hope our fans in the UK will support us.”

The last time Banyana played in the UK was in October 2022 when they lost 4-1 to Australia in London.

It has been 14 years since they last played against England, who beat them 1-0 in February 2010.

England also missed the 2024 Olympics despite being European champions.

Both teams hope to improve and move past their Olympic disappointments.
