Banyana- Banyana open their 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship account against a familiar foe in Malawi in Group A at the Lucas Moripe stadium at 15:30 looking to do better than the last two editions.
South Africa has won a record seven COSAFA titles but didn’t finish on the podium in 2021 while they finished second last year. The African Champions who just returned from their tour of the USA will field a new team following the unavailability of regular players due to other commitments such as the on-going Hollywoodbets Super League and the U20 camp as the tournament doesn’t fall within the FIFA break window.
Banyana’s next group match is against Madagascar on Saturday 7 October at the Dobsonville stadium at 12:00 and they wrap up their group campaign against Eswatini on Tuesday 10 October at the same venue (15:30).
