UDM leader Bantu Holomisa is calling for Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s impeachment process to be halted.
He said it should not proceed as the Public Protector’s rescission application is pending.
Holomisa says he doesn’t understand why the ANC and DA are in such a rush.
“We are at a level where we are dealing with procedural issues, we have not begun to talk about substantive ones,” he said.
“Procedural issues are as follows: we are saying the committee which was appointed cannot start the process because Mkhwebane has a pending case in the highest court. She has applied to the ConCourt to review their decision, that they made against her.”
“We say wait until that process is finalized because the rule of sub judice also affects Parliament. Let us wait, they must swallow pride the ANC and the DA, I don’t know what they are rushing.”
