Bafana Bafana will face Nicaragua national football team in their final send-off match ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup this Friday.

The players are expected to report for camp on Monday, with Bafana coach Hugo Broos set to announce his final squad two days later.

South Africa was drawn in Group A during the FIFA World Cup draw held in Washington DC in December 2025. Bafana will take on Mexico, South Korea and the Czech Republic in the group stages.

Bafana Bafana will kick off their World Cup campaign against Mexico on 11 June 2026 at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

The clash will officially open the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup tournament.

How to watch Bafana’s friendly against Nicaragua

The match will take place on Friday, 29 May 2026 at the Orlando Amstel Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.

Supporters will be able to watch the match live on SABC Sport and SuperSport channels.

The friendly against the Central Americans will be South Africa’s final match on home soil before Broos and his squad depart for Mexico for the FIFA World Cup.

“We encourage families and fans to come in their numbers to support the team. The players will appreciate the support before heading to the FIFA World Cup to be hosted by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July 2026,” said Danny Jordaan.

Bafana will, however, be without players from Mamelodi Sundowns, who recently won their second CAF Champions League title in Morocco. The Sundowns contingent is only expected to join camp later this week.

Tickets for Friday’s encounter are available for R80 for adults and R40 for children under the age of 12.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
